Rumour: I need to watch my weight so I've always chosen the diet sparkling drinks. I recently heard a rumour that diet drinks actually make you fat. Is this true?

Reality: No - this is false!

Weight gain is all about how much you eat in relation to your physical activity. If your kilojoule consumption is greater than the number of kilojoules that your body is burning, then you will put on weight.

In fact the Coca-Cola Health and Wellness Advisory Council – an independent panel of experts in nutrition science and public health, reviewed the scientific evidence on sweeteners and found that they can assist people in keeping to a low energy diet.
